BISHOP'S WINS STATE FOOTBALL TITLE
On a soggy night at the Home Depot Center in Carson, The Bishop’s School defeated Stockton’s Brookside Christian, 40-14, to win its first ever state football title.*
The Knights (14-0 overall) were led by running back Alec Fisher, who had four rushing touchdowns in the rout.
Bishop’s defense was key in the win, slowing down Brookside’s offense, which entered the game averaging nearly 50 points per game on offense.
It was the first loss of the season for Brookside.

* Correction: this is actually the second State Championship for Bishop's. The first title was won in 1997 by the team led by current Bishop's Assistant Coach Shane Walton '98 and Head Coach William Lekvold. The Alumni Association Board has contacted the La Jolla Light about this correction.
